Introducing Myself

My name is Rachel. I became pregnant with my first in November of 2020 and now at 24 weeks my unborn baby has been diagnosed with transposition of great arteries.

TGA is when the arteries are attatched to the wrong side of the heart. Unoxygenized blood is pumped to the rest of the body without flowing to the lungs first.

I’m starting this blog as a way to vent and to record the experience me and my family will be going through. I’d like to share my experience from pregnancy and labor to my son’s surgery, recovery, and beyond.

Besides the heart defect my baby boy is perfectly healthy. He’s growing at a great rate, he’s moving a lot, and according to my baby apps he has a fully formed face now! It’s easy to get swept up with all the bad and scary details but there are so many other victories to celebrate. I already love him so much and no matter what I just can’t wait to meet him.
